Rally Legend Walter Rohrl Smashed A Porsche 918 Into A Barrier
Possibly due to a track surface issue, veteran rally and racing driver Rohrl lost the back end of a 918 Weissach at the Sachsenring in Germany, leading to an expensive-looking armco slap
Speaking after the incident, Rohrl blamed a track surface issue for the loss of control. His conversation with Auto Bild loosely translates as: “I’m 100 per cent sure there was something on the road. There’s no reason why the car should have let go, on the previous laps it was like child’s play going flat out.”
He looks very calm about the crash, but that’s unsurprising, as we already know from a recent 911 GT3 RS thrash video that the 68-year-old is a very cool customer.
The 918 only recently went out of production, with construction on the final example being completed last week.
