Rumour Confirmed: McLaren Reject Perez Settles For Force India
Despite losing his seat at McLaren, Sergio Perez has found a drive at Force India
After months of speculation, Sergio Perez has finally been confirmed as a Force India driver for the 2014 F1 season.
The Mexican, who announced his departure from McLaren after just one season in November, has signed a "multi-year" deal to join the team. He will partner the returning Nico Hulkenberg.
Perez said of the news:
"It’s great to announce my new team as Sahara Force India. Coming here was always my first choice and I’m really happy everything has now been confirmed. This is a young team with a lot of determination and they’ve produced competitive cars for the last few years. It’s all change for next season with the new regulations, but I already have a good feeling about 2014."
There are now just five seats left to be filled on next year's Formula 1 grid: Two at Sauber, two at Caterham and one at Marussia.
