Say Hello (And Goodbye) To The Last Ever Hennessey Venom GT

Hennessey has announced that Venom GT production is at an end, releasing an image of the final car to be built

After six years in (very) limited production, the Hennessey Venom GT is no more. The 12th car - one of six roadster versions - has been built and sold for $1.2 million to an unnamed buyer.

While its critics are keen to point out its (massively modified) Lotus base, the Venom lives up to its promise of being massively, maddeningly fast. The last cars - including this special ‘glacier blue’ Final Edition - put out 1451bhp via a twin-turbo V8, making 0-60mph possible in 2.4 seconds.

While the car’s 270.4mph top speed recorded at the Kennedy Space Center in 2014 was never a ‘proper’ Guinness world record, it remains a massively impressive feat. The GT did bag an ‘official’ record too, becoming the fastest car to go from 0-300kmh, which it did in just 13.61 seconds.

So long Venom GT, it’s been fun watching you do cool stuff.

Growing up on a diet of World Rally Championship highlights and lengthy Gran Turismo 2 sessions, a life in cars was as good as inevitable for Matt.

Sorry but i remember as Koenigsegg broke Venom’s record with the Agera R (and One:1 later on) am i wrong?

I live near Hennessy and have taken my lotus to many shows alongside the venom GT. Interior is identical to mine haha. It’s literally a Lotus Exile stretched out with a tt ls motor and ford gt trans. Watch jay Leno’s review on it. Met John many times, seems so stressed all the time haha.

She had a good run, but I’d rather 50 cheap non runners that I could smash together into the ultimate race car, two Volvo Turbo I5’s making a twin turbo V10 in a 79’ Holden Kingswood Body, Yiew.

That isn’t the record. The koenigsegg did 0-300kmh in 11.92 sec. Thats 1.69 seconds faster. Plus it dropped back down to 0 in just 6.03 sec. I would say that way faster than the Venom GT
