Subaru has revealed full details on a new limited production car! The Forester tS (Tuned by STI)! Oh great, another Forester? Wait… This is no normal limited edition Forester! This is Subaru Technica International’s newest creation, featuring the same engine as the famous WRX sports sedan! With 177kW (237 hp) from the WRX’s 2.0 litre turbocharged boxer/flat-4 engine, the car makes a 0-100kph time of approximately 7 seconds. Although based on the Forester XT Premium, this car has a revised interior and exterior with Brembo brakes and the front and rear both carrying ‘STI’ badges. The Subaru logo on the steering wheel is also replaced by an ‘STI’ badge. Okay, so practically everything that used to carry a ‘Subaru’ badge except the front and rear emblem have been replaced with ‘STI’! The performance SUV is making a limited production run, and only 300 are coming to Australia, making it a rare car as well, and likely a future collectors car. Possibly the first collectible SUV… With a price of $54,990 ($7000 on top of the top model), over half have already been sold, so if you want one, you better act fast!

STI Tuned Forester! The Forester tS

Apart from Japan, the only place that the Forester tS is going to is Australia, so good news for all of us in Australia! Bad news for the rest of the world who want an STI tuned SUV!

Will this be a new SUV version of the 22B?

Meh, saddled with a CVT. That’s a deal breaker. CVTs have no place in cars with any ounce of sportiness.

There was a STI Forester made a few years ago.. that is already very collectible and looks a lot better than this. Also no turbo Subaru with an auto deserves to be in the same sentence as the 22B

I’d love to get one of those but it didn’t reach the US. We got the XT, which still is way better in performance terms than the new one, 0-60 in just 5.2s in 2004, what happened?? The new one is too heavy

So, am I the only one that wants to see a subaru comercial where some dog (I’d prefer an old pug) rolls up to the golden retriever and his girl at a light and they race. The pug wins and the drives off with the golden retrievers girl. Then the anouncer chimes in-“I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks.” Love, it’s what makes a Subaru a Subaru.

it’s possible this is already a thing as I am a noob and have not done my research

CVT? Nah, I’d prefer an old forester. Still, looks awesome.

If it’s hitting the Australian market, that means a select few will come over to NZ as well. Too bad they didn’t do anything to make it less ugly though.
