The Toyota GR Supra GT4 100th Edition Is A Road-Going Race Car Celebration
The Toyota GR Supra GT is a race car that YOU can buy if you have loads of money and want to go Proper Racing. It’s proved rather popular, to the point where Toyota has now made 100 of them. And to celebrate, the Japanese manufacturer has made a limited-edition road car – the catchily titled Toyota GR Supra GT4 100th Edition Tribute.
Like the 100th Edition GT4 race car, this road-going edition is smothered in Plasma Orange paint and some not-subtle vinyl wrapping. Just 100 will be made and sold only in Europe. If you want to check it out in person, you can do so at the Essen Motor Show, which is on right now.
As well as the… er, interesting look., the GT4 100th Edition Tribute is festooned with other goodies, including carbon fibre side mirror caps, a carbon rear wing and, in what may or may not be a nod to the Supra’s shared roots with the BMW Z4, a front splitter and pedal caps from AC Schnitzer.
It also gets EVO T1 adjustable suspension from Bilstein, a Milltek exhaust system and Protrack One wheels. Powertrain-wise, it’s all as per a regular GR Supra manual, which means there’s a BMW B58 turbocharged inline-six propelling the rear wheels via a Toyota-developed six-speed transmission and a mechanical limited-slip differential.
Want one? Well, you’ll need to wangle your way onto the very short list of buyers and have €68,900 (around £59,120) to throw Toyota’s way – an increase of €2,450 (£2100) on the standard equivalent spec Lightweight car. Which actually doesn’t seem very much. It’s a whole load cheaper than its cousin, the GR Supra GT4 100 Edition, which is €220,000. Then again, that one is basically just the full-blown GT4 car with some extras, so the premium is rather understandable.
The Essen Motor Show runs at the Messe Essen exhibition centre in Germany until December 10
