UPDATE: Brazen Race Track Gatecrasher Arrested On Suspicion Of 'False Imprisonment'

The driver of the VW Polo that invaded a live race at Brands Hatch on Saturday has been arrested by Kent Police. In a statement, police confiirmed:

A 21 year old man has been arrested in connection with an incident at Brands Hatch.

On Sunday 15 June, Kent Police was made aware of a report of possible offences committed at Brands Hatch race track in West Kingsdown.

Officers have today (Monday 16 June) arrested a 21 year old man from Tonbridge on suspicion of false imprisonment. He remains in police custody.

For those of you who might have missed the controversy, the kid behind the wheel of the Polo drove onto a race track against the will of his female passenger. The subsequent video has been seen and shared hundreds of thousands of times and sparked outrage and concern worldwide.

Exterior footage of the incident emerged today as well as quotes from the young driver who said: “you only live once” and that people had “blown it out of all proportion”.

The 21-year-old driver has been released from custody and is now on police bail. On a new Facebook page - believed to be set up by the driver - he had this to say:
