The ‘Urban Assault’ Street Hoon Buggy Driver Is Being Taken To Court On 26 Different Charges

Remember that guy who terrorised the streets of San Diego in an LS-powered buggy? Unsurprisingly, it seems the authorities took a dim view of his actions...

Back in January, a video of an LS-powered buggy driver’s massively illegal street hoon landed, breaking the Internet to such an extent that both of Kim Kardashian’s buttocks were immeasurably jealous. Many claimed the ‘Urban Assault’ video - now on 1.1 million views - was staged, a thought soon quashed when it turned out the police were investigating the driver’s antics. Now it’s been revealed that the pilot - Blake Wilkey - is being taken to court, for no less than 26 misdemeanor accounts.

Wilkey posted an image of the charge list on his Instagram account, revealing nine counts of conspiring to commit a crime, nine counts of reckless driving, and eight counts of engaging in a “motor vehicle exhibition of speed”. He seems fairly relaxed about his court appearance on Monday 14 March, but we should imagine the consequences for all those charges will be quite severe…

On the plus side, if he gets banned our Disklok can fit that steering wheel, so he won’t have to worry while his vehicle is put in storage.

I’m sorry, I’m probably just a big of a fan as everybody else here when it comes to driving fast. But speeding through residential areas in the middle of the day with jumps etc. is just reckless. Get a permission or at least go to an abandoned industrial place.

This is one of the reasons why petrolheads get a bad rep in the general public.

And people called me an idiot when I said on the original video something along the lines of “it may look cool, but driving like this is dangerous and could kill someone. I really hope that they got permission first, and if they didn’t, that they get punished.”
