The Volkswagen Thing Is Slow, Old, Unsafe... and Amazing

I recently had the chance to drive a Volkswagen Thing, which is slow, unsafe, old, and poorly equipped. It’s also awesome — and it has some amazing quirks, as I’ve demonstrated in this video. I’ve also got more thoughts about the Thing in my column on Autotrader Oversteer. Enjoy!!

Ahhh, you do know that 91 RON is about 87 AKI, right?

The body type of the “Thing” is actually similiar to the Nissan Murano Cross-cabriolet (4 door convertible suv. The difference is that the “Thing” is way less safe, slower, but suprisingly you still look better in a “Thing”.

In Germany, we call it the “Kübelwagen” which means “bucket car” :D

Our family has one of these. Its called a Kübelwagen. Pretty much an old peatle expect bigger and no roof. We love it to bits. It also feels good when people dont know the car and ask what the actual f*ck it is :D
