Why 8 Barrel Rolls At 100mph? Because Race Car

Back in 2006, racing driver Joey Hand was competing in the GT Class of the American LeMans Series. Battling for the class lead at the Mid Ohio Sports Car Course, Hand's BMW was forced onto the grass by Paul Edwards' Pontiac. Catching the wobble, Hand took to the grass thinking he was out of trouble - until he hit a newly laid service road. The impact launched the Beemer end over end across the track, miraculously avoiding other cars along the way. The car barrel rolled some 8 times before landing on its roof some 150 metres away.

Testament to the levels of safety provided to these top level racers is the fact that Joey walked away from this smash, a little shaken and left with nothing but bruises.
