Will 'New' Top Gear Be Broadcast Live?
Ever since that punch put an end to Jeremy Clarkson’s BBC contract, the Top Gear rumour mill has been running on overdrive. We had all the rumours of who the main host would be before Chris Evans (the Radio 2 DJ, not the muscular bloke from Avengers) was confirmed as the replacement, not to mention the speculation about Zoe Ball joining as a co-presenter. And Guy Martin. Or maybe Philip Glenister.
The most recent rumour concerns the actual format of the show. According to a "Top Gear source" cited by The Sun, the revamped show might end up being broadcast live every week. “He [Evans] always loved the buzz of TFI Friday going out live and likes the idea of bringing that to Top Gear,” the source said.
Also mentioned is the latest batch of co-presenter rumours, with Evans apparently in talks with Mark Webber and Susie Wolff who may be signed on as "expert contributors".
As with any of the recent tabloid reports and rumours, it’s worth taking this news with a very hefty pinch of salt. After all, Evans swiftly rubbished suggestions of Zoe Ball being one of his co-presenters almost immediately after the ‘revelation’ dropped. Still, the prospect of a live Top Gear series is an intriguing one, so what do you think of the idea? Let us know in the comments.
