Witness The Absurd Acceleration Of A 911 GT2 RS As It Heads To 211mph
Try to act surprised: the Porsche 911 GT2 RS is quite capable of hitting its 211mph top speed.
Was there ever really any doubt? Not really, but it’s well worth your timing watching this run, which sees the 991 GT2 RS head for its Vmax from a standstill.
The venue is Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds, the same place we recently saw a Dodge Challenger Demon hit - funnily enough - 211mph.
Perhaps the most striking thing about the video is how quickly the 0-100mph run is dispatched. It takes just seven seconds, and 14sec after leaving the line, it’s already doing 150mph, and still pulling hard despite the drag from its huge rear wing.
The GT3 RS certainly make the better noise of the two track-focused 991s, and it’s not all that far behind on track as proven by Porsche’s recent Road Atlanta lap record-breaking session. But the straight-line pace of the 2 RS? Damn, that’s one hell of a selling point.
Growing up on a diet of World Rally Championship highlights and lengthy Gran Turismo 2 sessions, a life in cars was as good as inevitable for Matt.

I don’t know if this would be incredible or scary as hell. I love a good bit of traction loss but I don’t know how confident I’d feel in a rear engine car with that much power.

Well what do you expect? 700 ps stock, that’s a lot, remember? If it were for me, it’d have less power and less weight, but even like this it’s an absolute rocketship. But to be fair, JP did a way better launch in his video
