Swiss artist Fabien Oefner has painstakingly disassembled scale models of classic cars for his Disintegrating series, currently on display at the M.A.D. Gallery in Geneva. Each piece has been photographed individually, before being digitally stitched into the final image.

The cars featured in the exhibition include a 1967 Ferrari 330 P4, a 1954 Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Uhlenhaut Coupé and a 1961 Jaguar E-Type. It took Oefner more than a day to pull each car apart, and a couple of months to photograph and assemble the final image in Photoshop.

Oefner said he hoped to create 'a moment in time' with his images. He said:

“What looks like a car falling apart is in fact a moment in time that has been created artificially by blending hundreds of individual images together"

Alongside his Disintegrating images is Oefner's Hatch series. Oefner wanted to imagine what a car would look like hatching from an egg, which is odd, but at least provides some interesting photography for us to oggle.
