2017 Honda Haosen RPS Hawk 250

The Hawk 250 is a Chinese clone of a Honda CRF. It has a 230cc single-cylinder carbeurated engine that is an exact copy of a 1980-something Honda motor. You can buy these brand new for less than $1,500 which made it a tempting option for my first bike. I’ve put over 1000 miles on it since April 2019 and have had zero mechanical issues.

I’ve taken the carb apart and adjusted it for a richer fuel mixture and I check/adjust the valves every 400 miles. So far I’ve just ridden it to work, school, and around town, not much dirt biking yet. The fastest I’ve achieved on flat road (verified by GPS is 64mph). It also has an LED headlight as bright as the sun itself. People sometimes flip me off if I’m riding on the road at night.
