There's a real problem with sexism in the car community. It's no wonder why there are so few of us when it feels like the whole community collectively rejects and/or objectifies us.
CT has gotten a little better about moderating things like this, but I just recently made a post about what a badass Michèle Mouton was and the first (and only) two comments were these:
No one would have made comments like that if the post had been about another legendary driver like, say, Colin McRae or Ken Block. It gets worse when the comments aren’t moderated, like on Facebook (this particular commenter was mocking other commenters who were responding to a photo of two models posing badly at a gas pump with their fuel door still closed, and the other commenters came after her with all the butthurt their fedoras could contain):
Really? Look, I know people on the internet can be awful, but the car community seems to be particularly bad about being inclusive to anyone other than macho white dudes. We all love cars — why can’t this be something to start a friendship over, regardless of whether you’re male/female, gay/straight/bi, cis/trans, white/black/Asian/Hispanic/Middle Eastern/polka-dotted, Euro/JDM/muscle, drift/drag/rally/F1? Why do any of those things matter? What matters is the cars and our shared passion for them.
Grow up, people. Show some respect, turn some wrenches, and enjoy the ride and the camaraderie.

A few rotten apples unfortunately spoil things for everyone.
If you think sexism is a problem on CT (I don’t see much sexism on CT, but as I am male, I have different eyes than you) do something about it! Seriously, I think that if you regularly make blogposts about the role of the woman in the car world that would already help (tip to start with: Sabine Schmitz). I think that you could become a sort of leading person for cargirls on CT. I think the key to solving CT sexism is doing something about it yourself!
Therr is no sexism on CT
Another one
I’d say the sexism works both ways - look at how many guys are called out (…accurately in many cases) for being “thirsty” when they comment on a girls post.
You’ve got to remember that most of the users here are under 18 and that Facebook ranks alongside Youtube as being the very bottom rung of the ladder of where the human race is at as a civilisation.
.
Jesus. The dumb Facebook arguments and “ooh this is so wrong” posts have made it to the CT app. Listen everyone, breaking news… the CT community on Facebook is awful and stupid (and quite frankly Facebook sucks overall). This is the first time I have seen accusations of sexism on here. Sexism is wrong and stupid from all sides of the argument. But don’t bring something which cannot be fixed to the CT community, we can’t help it anymore than the gamer community can. Just saying.
Good point, Ate’ Kilgore. It makes me mad seeing all these people discriminating against others, forgetting that they`re people too. I raise my water bottle to you and other car girls out there. Gender Equality for the win!
You accuse the majority of a community of being shallow, then you tell them to grow up? Take a minute to realize what you are doing here, that isn’t needed on this site.
I don’t know about you but one of the largest franchises about cars seems to represent almost all of what you say brought up in that last paragraph, and they work together just fine.
A little food for thought before you jump to conclusions.
