My Favorite cars #1: Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34) #blogpost

Inspired by GTA Motorsport, I’m going to do a series of my favourite cars, starting with the R34 GT-R

It's Body

The R34’s body isn’t one of the most aerodynamic out there, same case with the R35, but whilst this was the car to be last adorned with both the Skyline and GT-R badges, it is one of the best cars to ever have left Japan. It is aggressive (Just look at those headlights), it has that “boxy” shape to it, while it is still pretty fast, the shape of it is so perfect that only Nismo itself could improve it and make it look better, that’s why there are many bodykits that tried to improve the looks but failed, except for the Top Secret’s one and the ones done especially for motorsport. Another huge thing about it is the spoiler, It isn’t that big, nor that small, contrary to many spoilers, this one has all the rounded edges that contribute to the general shape of the car. The headlights are also very distinctive, just by seeing the two red assymetric circles and the exhaust badge, you know that you’re in for a good view

The RB26DETT , the Skyline's heart

Oh, the mythical RB26, it found it’s place on the GT-R badged cars from 1989 to 2002.
The engine is a 2.6l Twin Turbo Inline 6 producing 276hp and 260lb-ft of torque, as agreed by the “Gentleman’s Agreement” in Japan, that determined that the advertised power output of a car couldn’t surpass that of 276hp, but, as Alex said on CT’s video about the cars that lied about their power output, it was capable of producing well over 300hp (322hp, if you like numbers). The RB26 has fame for being one of the most tunable engines due to it’s reliability, like that one of the 2jz.

Overall

For me, the R34 is a great farewell to the Skyline badged cars that also had the Nissan badge, but it’s also a great demonstration of what Japan can do when it comes to cars. Apart from being a JDM legend, it is the dream car for many of us here on CT, and it’s, unfortunately, a great spark for arguments between GT-R fanboys (Shhh, don’t look at my name) and Muscle/Euro fans.

Tell me in the comments what are your opinions on the R34 down below

So, this is my first blogpost, any tips and corrections for the next one in the comments are appreciated.

nice blogpost, but R34? With AE86 one of the most overdone blogposts on CT.

I love the GTR but one of the biggest problems is the fanboys…
