So I got some first running costs numbers on my Volvo 940....
so first things first…. It has been dead reliable from January on and before there was a dead battery, a leaking servotube and a breakin the car can nothing for….. all repairs combined were below 150€ and about 2 hours of work (for window and servotube).
Fuel
so in that car fuel is actually the biggest factor and well…. it is a huge petrol car so 9.62l/100km comes with 0 surprises.
An oil Change… I can not really tell because I buy oil in 60l barrels (all the family cars yearly oil change and whenever kms are reached requires that easy) and I just filled it up until it was at full on the measureing stick I guess somewhat 4-5l which extrapolates to 20€ and 9€ for a new filter. That is all that needed to be done. As I said dead reliable since return from Portugal.
Until now I was thinking maybe a smaller modern Diesel would fit…. but cheap and easy maintenance make it easy to oversee the slightly higher fuel consumption.. and you should not forget that it is a huge car formed like a brick at a time Volvo did not give a single fk for wind tunnels and built a car formed like a brick.
