The issue with today's Need for speed community

Disclaimer: I will be making lots of generalizations, reader discretion is advised
You can’t go to any website and find a Need for speed comment section that shows reason anymore. It’s all the same damn complaints every god damn time. I’m here to let my feelings loose on this topic so here are the major reasons I’m losing faith in the need for speed community.

The Blackpanthaa sheep

This is one of my bigger gripes (we’ll get to the biggest one later) about seeing people play the newer titles. They randomly hate on MW 2012 or rivals, when both are extremely well rounded games. They aren’t “the worst of all time” but I don’t believe they are the best need for speed game either. Let me get this out of the way, Theo is entitled to his own opinion about the game. He bases his favorite games off of certain criteria, like customization and progression. But some people hate the game because their favorite YouTuber hate it. There’s a high chance that they never played the game either. Also if you liked it before, don’t let someone change your mind cause they haven’t a differing opinion on it. Most wanted isn’t a terrible game, it’s pretty fun. That’s what makes a game good in my opinion, is it fun to play? Or are you forcing yourself to play it. You shouldn’t bash a game cause everyone else is. That leads me to another point

Those few with extremely high expectations

Need for speed 2015 showed us all that some of us have our expectation bar set through the roof. It checked a lot of boxs. Customization, check. Progression, check. Tuning, check. Now the only reason I haven’t said anything about the handling model is cause I haven’t played the game. Before you say “alright hypocrite, you just said don’t judge something you haven’t played” and I’m not judging it. I don’t know if I would have liked or disliked it because I’m just judging off of videos. That’s why I’m not saying it’s good or it’s bad. I’m saying to those who expect the extreme grippy simulation realistic handling model from need for speed. Then everyone else thinks it’s a good idea to hate on it cause everyone else has. It’s gonna be a little slippery because it always has been. It for the casual players who want less of a learning curve to play the game. Not catering to the sim racing community. Then again your preferences are subjective and I’m not one to judge, my point is don’t expect highly of something that hasn’t delivered in the past.

The nostalgia racers (especially the underground 3 beggars)

This is my biggest gripe. Why the hell would you still want a old game when there are multiple ways to play it today, but you don’t choose to. You can install it on PC with a graphic mod or you can play your PS2 again. Also don’t try to cram underground 3 down our throats when need for speed 2015 was almost exactly the same thing. Let’s play a game, compare and contrast how many things that are in need for speed 2015 and underground 2

Things that are the same

  • night time
  • in a city
  • customization
  • JDM cars
  • upgrades
  • currency
  • a story

Differences

Need for speed 2015
Licensed body kits
Online mode

Underground 2
Rice kits

I had to nitpick to find the differences that’s a problem if you claim their so different. What do you want from underground 3 that Need for speed 2015 didn’t do? I bet you you wouldn’t be complaining if Need for speed 2015 was named need for speed underground 3 same game just different name. You would complain would you? Also final argument why don’t you like the customization options

Would you rather want your car to look tasteful and well crafted

Or whatever the hell this is

Seriously I’m losing faith in the need for speed community, payback actually looks pretty good. It’s a breath of fresh air. It still has customization, it has an upgrade system, and it has intelligent AI if you believe it’s gonna be “that” bad just don’t buy. You don’t have a impose that “this game sucks” to everyone else

I don’t think there is a single video of NFS where there aren’t people shouting “Underground 3!” and “Heresy!” At the top of their lungs.

I agree.

Most Wanted 2012 is one of my favourite NFS games ever. If I was influenced by other people saying the game is s**t, I’d have never played it. I’m glad I did though. And Rivals aren’t that bad either.

As for NFS 2015, it fulfilled my expectations, I really like this game and it also became one of my favourite NFS games. Sure, the handling can be crappy, twitchy and not predictable, but overall, I adore NFS 2015.

As for the nostalgia bois, fcuk them. “Is it that hard to make a MW2005/Underground 2 remaster”. Like you said, THEN THEY SHOULD PLAY THE F**KING ORIGINAL GAME. I also once saw a “fan” saying that Underground had a better carlist than NFS 2015. 20 cars is better than 55. Logic not found. And yes, NFS 2015 is basically an Underground 3 but without the name.

It always feels like I’m representing the opposition when I just want to clear out their points.

First of all, the “MW12 hate” was not something made in Blackpizza, and has been around way before him. This is simply due to MW12 being a Burnout Paradise 2 with licensed cars and heavier steering, manufactured under the name Most Wanted which is precious to many NFS fanboys. And concerning Rivals, the concept was cool but the execution was flawed as hell : bad networking, lack of replayability once you get to 100%, Alldrive discarding real PVP battles, game balance being elite af, bugs everywhere (aka host freezing for no reason), etc; so well the flak was kinda deserved.

Secondly, well of course you’ll find irrational people with a bar set so high you couldn’t smack it with an ballistic missile. But about the handling, no. People don’t want an Assetto Corsa in spades, NFS is an arcade racer and don’t need ultimate realism. These people, me included, just want grip racing to actually matter. In NFS15, using grip just meant shoot your steering wheel with a RPG and forget about steering (note to some people, I know that you can drive grip, but in the face of adversity you won’t do anything and it’s annoying).

To be honest, I kinda enjoyed the Need for Slide experiences (particularly HP, and somehow Rivals in spite of the latter’s issues). Because I know that the game should be played with sliding, and it was fitting cuz intense police pursuits with contact and all. But in NFS15, Ghost gives me an option for grip (even marketed it way long ago as a way to play like the older NFS titles (understand UG/MW era) in contrast to the Need for Slide experience)… and it just doesn’t work. Hybrid settings is the only way to have something that is kinda enjoyable and competitive… so, so much for advanced handling tuning.

Concerning the nostalgia dudes, well UG fanboys are annoying because yes NFS15 is a hidden UG3, no doubt. But you know what those guys want ? They want select cars (e.g. not the Eclipse Mk2 at all) from said UGs because it’s missing from the newer games (and things like no supercar because variety is overrated) and nostalgia is a hard hitter. But what they want the most with a UG3 thing, is more customization, and by that I mean more parts. They love to have choices (even if it’s an illusion cuz most parts were universal and ugly), because they want to do it their way and giving choice feels like it truly is their way.

Concerning point number 1: if you read carefully I was pointing out explicitly the people who, only hate MW 2012 cause panthaa said so not people who created their own opinions on the game

Concerning point number 2 yes I have seen people dis need for speed over it’s arcade only handling model

Conserving point 4 I said if they really want a underground experience they can go ahead and play underground 2 cause options still exist for people to play it to this day
