#blogpost The Forgotten Cars #11
The Dodge Copperhead concept car

This was Dodge’s way of making a cheaper Dodge Viper. Made back in 1997 this concept car was intended for release on 2000, but that didn’t happen. This was the poor mans way of owning a $75,000USD Viper for only $30,000USD ($45,000USD less).

The rear

Powered by a 2.7L LH DOHC V6, that produced 220hp. According to Dodge this car was better at taking a corner then the “powerful” Viper. The aerodynamic’s of this atrocity of making a more cheaper Viper were horrendous to the eye. Looks like they took part of the Viper and a bit of a TVR from the same era.

The interior

This thing does not look well inside or outside. Yet this car was classified as a sports car. Really Dodge, that means by Dodge’s concept of a sports car is the same as a five-year-old. Some how Dodge thought that this car was towards enthusiasts. As it had a 5” ground clearance with a stiff suspension.

I think the Solstice took the body shape.

(surprised at the amount of info I can find on this)

The original name Copperhead was controversial. As a ZZ Top’s own Billy Gibbons has a custom built 1950 Ford Coupe he called Copperhead. Dodge later changed the name to Concept Vehicle (You wish I was making this up, sadly that is what Dodge decided to call it).

Good thing this was not produced. Imagine telling people at a car meet.

Ya I drive a Dodge Concept Vehicle. It was supposed to be a Viper but I couldn’t afford one. Sadly every Honda Civic I raced here beat me.

Oh God the horror’s!

So what do think about this concept car created by Dodge. Comment below and I will reply to most.
