Hey Michael for a starter driver, would a spec S be a good car? Or is it not worth putting money in one?
Probably - I reckon they’d make a good starter for a car guy, as long as it’s in decent condition. Spec-S’ are a lot cheaper than Spec-R’s so you should be able to get one in better condition for less money. They’re not over powered so it’s a good start to get the feel for a light weight RWD. My Spec-R has pretty good highway fuel economy so I’d imagine the Spec-S’ would be even better. Just be aware there are a few differences beyond being turbo/NA, for instance the Spec-S uses 4-stud wheels instead of 5, has different brakes, etc. So if you need to order parts, make sure it’s for the right variant. Also bare in mind Silvias have no traction control at all, but the S15 has ABS standard. But overall, I think it wouldn’t be a bad choice at all, good to learn to work on, good to learn to handle properly, cheap to run.
Apart from the Fiat 500
White suits them too. I think most cars usually look better in another colour, but white just really seems to work for S15s
