Is it difficult to change the valve stems on a 1992?
Tire valve stem or engine valve stem?
Engine valve stem
A pain. you have to remove the cylinder heads off the engine. If its a TT you have to pull the motor since you have to remove the exhaust manifolds. The only way to remove the manifolds on a TT is by pulling the motor. If its NA you can get away with leaving it in the car but I would suggest pulling the motor. Are you sure its the valve stems? What is making you think that
The valve stem seals
What’s the difference between the 92 and 93 engine everyone is telling me about?
TT or NA? These are the only differences I know of:
1992
Driver’s airbag made standard Dashboard and door complementary material changed from fabric to suede Separate mirror heater switch eliminated (combined with rear defroster switch) Power adjustable driver’s seat standard on t-top models Mirror heaters made standard Twin Turbo Sales: 6,708 units[16] 1993
Turbo oil line insulation changed Convertible option added Brake caliper material changed from aluminum to iron New style fuel injectors for the non-turbo, (except convertible) Upgraded Bose stereo made standard AIV system eliminated Non-turbo model, (except convertible), ECUs changed from 8-bit to 16-bit
is it a good starter for a high school student?
Im a highschool student with a 91 N/A. I work a lot to be able to afford it, and im in the process of doing an engine swap. Honestly, the car would be fine if you get a super clean one and you have the capital to afford parts and insurance. If not, then i would suggest another car.
yes and no. I bought that as my first car as a hs student. It was a total pain, and was pricey to keep up but I wouldn’t have learned so much without it. Evaluate your budget and how much you care about fuel economy and buying parts. If you buy one, get one that is clean, and has service records
Whats the name of the part that keeps the window against the seal so water doesnt get in? Mine is broken
search for 300ZX window seal or 300ZX weatherstripping
My car has major hesitation( car used to only run on 3 cyl (piston 1,3,5)) I changed the injectors and solved the 3 cyl problem but still had major hesitation. I changed the alternator and it ran better but he hesitation didn’t go away, was hoping you could have the solution( btw the car has +260,000 miles)
Damn thats a lot of miles lol. So currently no misfires correct? At what RPM’s does it hesitate, or is it throughout. It could be a plethora of things. I would start with checking MAF, CAS, TPS, IACV, make sure you are getting good spark and make sure you have healthy fuel pressure. Let me know if you need help setting, testing those components. There should be plenty of write ups on how to test and set those first few things I listed.
I have a 90 n/a its making a knocking sound because one of the timing belt tensioners are off track os it ok to use the car untill i get this fixed?
What would it take to TT the NA 1991 ZX?
Money. This is one you can google haha it is NOT easy
Would you be able to get insured on one at 17-18? (not twin turbo)
I had a NA 300ZX in highschool. Full coverage was roughly $75 a month in southern California for me on my families plan.
