Breather Filters Versus Air Filters
I feel like most people on Car Throttle will know this already, but it’s the first episode of Season Two. Looking forward to covering more advanced topics! Have any requests?

That was really helpful! Thanks bud
Does a breather filter do the same thing as a PCV valve? And if so, does it have any advantages over it?
PCV (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) valves only let crankcase pressure out, not back in. Usually there is a tube coming from the intake that allows fresh air into the engine. Some people actually put a breather filter on the PCV valve (like the filter I showed in the video), but this keeps oil vapors from getting into the intake. It’s a cleaner engine, but lawmakers in some regions deem it bad for the environment, so that set-up is actually banned in some areas.
I have been planning on filming a PCV valve video that covers this in more depth.
This is actually more helpful than I thought, thanks!
