BMW E46 320d (with a little suprise)
When was the last time you had an encounter with a sleeper? You know, those unassuming cars that seem like regular grocery-getters, yet completely smoke you from the lights while your jaw drops in astonishment. Well I thought I would share with you one of my favourites. Its a locally built car, Proudly South African, and will amaze you. Its a throwback to an older feature in Speed and Sound Magazine (a local magazine which is THE mag to get when you like tuned cars), so I am unsure if the the car still exists or not.
The car in question WAS an oil burner. A B.M.W E46 320d to be specific, but its had a heart transplant.
Under the hood now is a Lexus 1UZ-fe 4.0l V8 32-valve Twin Turbo pushing out 320kW on a low 0.5bar boost setting. And with that kind of engine, hearing the throaty roar of a V8 coming from a Diesel BMW can confuse many.

fuel pump with custom piping – Spitronics engine management –
Aftermarket oil cooler, piping and sandwich plate – BMW 320d
radiator – Front mount intercooler.
TRANSMISSION:
Custom flywheel – custom button clutch
– BMW E46 328i gearbox – modified bell housing – custom
propshaft – BMW E46 M3 driveshafts – BMW E46 M3 diff and
rear suspension.
ROADHOLDING:
BMW M6 replica wheels – BMW E46 M3
braking system – BMW E46 M3 rear springs and shocks – BMW
E46 Sport Pack front springs and shocks.
INTERIOR:
Hidden aftermarket boost guages – E46 M3 instrumentation
cluster – Aftermarket boost controller with low and
high boost control – Innovate Air Fuel Guage.
CAR AUDIO:
Alpine CDE-9880R headunit – Alpine SPG-
