1986 Honda Civic Si
Found this beauty in Yorba Linda, CA with only 192,000 miles on it! It was being driven by an 87 year old woman up until her health recently deteriorated sadly and no longer had the strength to really leave the house much. I was amazed she was still driving this little 5 speed manual beast! What amazed me even more is how great the condition of the car still was as you could see from the pictures! Stock “Si exclusive” wheels, paint of course is definitely worn in some places and wearing in others but still in great condition for being 30 years old come this APRIL! (saw her manufacture date in the door jamb) Interior is just as in great condition (pictures to come next interior cleaning) door panels still intact, seat belts all work, dashboard not cracked and ripped up or anything like that. I feel it was quite the lucky find for me because as you know to find ANY CLEAN HONDA is soooooooo damn hard to do especially in California for some reason! They’re always riced out, with rediculous universal fit spoilers, ugly body kits, ugly wheels, broken interiors, horrible primer paint, etc. etc. the list goes on! So damn happy I found this one! As with any car with a private owner just so I have my own record of what’s been replaced or maintained I immediately changed the oil, transmission fluid, spark plugs, checked ignition timing, replaced an alternator, flushed radiator coolant so it purrrrrrrrs pretty damn awesome right now save for a possible fuel pressure issue that me and my dad will be diagnosing real soon then it’ll be running perfect!
Crazy because we used to have a family owned 1986 Honda Civic Hatchback just like this one only it was the standard 1.3L CARB 4-Speed Manual my dad bought brand new from Lodi Honda in CA. Me and brother pretty much grew up in the back seat of that car then it got passed down to my older brother he drove it around and didn’t maintain anything on the car and by the time it got to me to drive around interior and exterior wise it was sooooooo neglected sadly, mechanically it worked amazing! But when I bought a brand new 2007 Civic Si Sedan at the time I sadly sold the car that was in my family for so long for so damn cheap but it sucks that timing was off because I knew nothing about cars really I really only knew the “Si” was the top trim in the CIVIC lineup performance and feature wise. It wasn’t long before I got turned onto the modding world of cars, discovered MUGEN, SPOON, J’s RACING, and every single mod for my car and then I slowly realized I was such an idiot for selling the 86 CIVIC we had I could’ve repainted it, done an engine swap, restored the car to her former glory! Eventually I felt so bad for selling it that I felt nothing would be right until I bought a 1986 HONDA CIVIC hatchback again and that’s when my quest began to buy this 86 Civic Si and I’m never letting her go!
My plans are big for this car, I got inspired by a King Motorsports blog recently where some guy bought an ‘89 Civic Si and literally looked up the old HONDA CODE stock system for brand new MUGEN parts such as exhausts, suspensions, wheels from Honda Dealerships overseas in Italy, Germany, Malaysia it was insane how he could find these brand new in box MUGEN parts for his car! I want to try the same thing and see if I can source as many MUGEN and/or SPOON parts for this car because the MUGEN version of this car was so cool!!!!
As of now there are no mods or anything save for maybe an LED dome light, LED trunk light, and a SPOON shift knob but yeah hope to share her progress very soon with you all!

Nice car. I like how the rear glass goes down to the taillights.
My friend had one of these. ..same year ..same color. . The memories with car are priceless. What a tuff little car they were. He beat it like you could not imagine and it ran for years. You would also be surprised how good it is off road as well….haha.. Anyways nice little civic and thank you for the old memories! Cheers
Never realised how much those tail lights look like an NSX’s till now.
Now, thats a sweet car.
Pretty cool… Love Civics :D… What are your plans for it?
