This Stunning Alfa Romeo 159 V6 Ti Is A Rare Italian You'll Want On Your Driveway
You can see why so few Alfa 159s were sold in the UK during the six years it was on these shores. It’s not as sharp to drive as a BMW 3-series, not as well built as an Audi A4, and not as comfortable as a Mercedes C-Class. And yet, it has an appeal than none of its German rivals could hope to match. Mostly because it’s absolutely stunning, particularly in Ti form (check out the fancier press picture below), but also because it has that Alfa badge.
Yes, much of this aforementioned allure is based on sentimental tosh, but when we see an example like this V6-powered Ti 159 up for just £6495, we can’t help but be tempted.
Ti-badged cars sit 20mm lower on sportier suspension, have a lovely set of 19-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels and a handsome bodykit. It’s especially hard to find a 3.2-litre V6-powered version in Ti trim (this is just one of two we found for sale in the UK), so when one’s up for grabs, it’s definitely worth a look.
Sadly, the 159 didn’t receive the sonorous Busso Alfa Romeo V6, which was in the process of being killed off when the 159 arrived (in a cruel twist of irony, the designer of this V6, Giuseppe Busso, died around the same time). Instead, the 159 got a GM-derived unit with 260bhp.And because power is sent to all four wheels - via a six-speed manual gearbox - 62mph comes up in 7.1 seconds.
Most importantly, if you buy one of these, you’re telling the world that you’ve got far more imagination than the hordes of BMW 3-series drivers, and a certain sense of style. Tempted?
