Top six best European aftermarket companies.
Aftermarket tuning has been a way of life for many petrol heads for decades. In fact in the 1960’s,a car rental place by the name of Hertz had Ford Shelby Mustang GT350s for rent. Some people started to rent these and stuck even more powerful Shelby big blocks under the hood that almost doubled the original horsepower. Even in the 1930’s,they would bolt on huge superchargers onto Ford Model 48s and chop the roof down. This is believed to be the first aftermarket tuning. Anyway,I have seen many aftermarket companies such as HKS,RE Amemiya,Greddy,NISMO,and Veilside. But today, were going to focus on the European aftermarket companies. The ones that most of us take for granted. The ones that most of us underestimate. The ones that most of us don’t even know about. So,grab your Spongebob blanket,a cub of apple juice, sit back, and enjoy.
Number six: Valentino Balboni Scarico Systems.
I bet all of you people know who this guy is. For those who don’t,he was Lamborghini’s test driver for forty years. He retired on October 2008 due to Italian government work regulations. Lamborghini even made a special edition,rear-wheel-drive Gallardo called, well,Valentino Balboni. Anyway,he himself has started his own company producing titanium exhaust systems for the Lamborghini Aventador SV LP750-4. Although it’s main purpose is changing the sound,it also adds just a little bit of horsepower. You can pick one of these up for $25,000. But if you own a $500,290 car, that wouldn’t be a problem for you.
Number five: APR.
APR stands for Audi Performance Racing. They tune anything in the Volkswagen group. So if roll up in there with a Bugatti, chances are you’ll be leaving with four less turbochargers, two more superchargers, and 500 more horses. They mainly specialize in Audis, though. They make superchargers, engines, engine internals, exhaust systems,ECUs,computers, body kits, spoilers, seats, etc. You name it,they’ve probably made a better version of it. Lets say you have a 2013 Audi A7 and you want some power to get your kids to school on time, and get to work early with doughnuts for everybody. An APR Stage 3 kit will run you $15,000-$25,000 (A7-RS7). Trust me,it’s worth it.
Number four: Cosworth.
That Ford KA above you was built by Cosworth and makes 1,012 horsepower. Yes,that much. Cosworth was founded on 1958 in London,England and specialized in rally tuning. They are most famous for their work with Ford, but also have made special edition Subarus,Volvos, and Chevrolets. They make high output turbochargers and forged internals, but make engines as well.
Number three: G-Power.
G-Power is,special. You roll up in there in a 1 Series M Coupe`,and when you leave,it’ll have a minimum of 900 horsepower. That’s a MINIMUM. They can make any BMW you have go above 200 miles per hour. My favorite of the G-Power family is the Hurricane RR. Under the hood is a twin supercharged V10 that makes that super saloon go 231 miles per hour.
Number two: RUF.
Founded on 1939 in Pfaffenhausen, Germany,RUF has been turning Porsches into mean hyper car eating machines. What they do is,they get unmarked Porsche chassis built by Porsche that Porsche didn’t want, known as bodies in white, and they make them their own. They may use twin screw kompressors, but mainly use the whistle of love.(Turbochargers.) They made history 1987 with the CTR “Yellowbird”.
It reached a top speed of 211 miles per hour and made Ferraris look like child’s play. But doesn’t Porsche do that all the time?
Number one: 9FF.
9ff is a German car tuning company, based in Dortmund, founded by Jan Fatthauer in 2001, specializing in converting stock Porsches into street legal racing machines, either as fully tuned cars, or selling individual parts or kits. There newest creation, the 9FF GT9-R VMAX makes, wait for it, 1,400 horsepower to the rear wheels. The power is transferred through a six speed manual transmission or a six speed G-Tronic automatic. What sets these apart from RUF is their blistering speed and that these are really Porsches. They didn’t get bodies in white. They actually bought real fully built Porsches, stripped them, and put all kinds of European goodies inside. The GT9-R VMAX’s top speed is a breakneck 272 miles per hour, just one miles per hour slower than the Koenigsegg One:1.

Nice post!
ABT, Rieger, AC Schnitzer, Alpina, Brabus, Carlsson, Gemballa, Hamann, Irmscher, MTM, Rinspeed, Techart? Very Porsche centered…
Problem is that most of them are prety ricy
What’s your point?
Also,Alpina only tunes BMWs and Brabus tunes Mercedes-Benzes and Smarts. Hamann tunes BMWs and Mercedes-Benzs.
nice article man
Thanks,bro.
You lost me at the SV’s sound… :P
Alpina?
I chose G-Power because they make faster BMWs than Alpina.
What about Brabus?
What about it?
