The Civic Type R through all generations. *read below*
The first Type R was unveiled in 1997. It had an 1,6 litre inline four cylinder N/A engine with 185 hp, but that was pretty powerful for a weight only slightly above 1000 kilos.It had a self-supporting rigid body, came with recaro seats, a MOMO steering wheel, a shift knob made out of titan and of course it had VTEC. The power was transmitted with a 5 speed manual and the sprint from 0-62 mph was made in 6,8 seconds. One great thing about this car and the whole Type R era is that the engine made 116 hp/ litre ! Howsoever, the car was built from 1997- 2000.
This one came into production in 2001 and Honda added many new things: 1. The engine was replaced by a 2,0 litre inline four cylinder N/A engine with VTEC and 200 hp, 2. The EP3 got a six speed manual transmission, 3. The chassis was 15 mm lower, and 4. Different Recaro seats. In 2004, the Civic Type R got a facelift, where the spoilers were redesigned, the indicators were removed from the fenders and added into the outside mirrors, the headlights and rearlights were redesigned and they added a new, lighter flywheel, which allowed the sprint from 0-62 mph in 6,6 seconds instead of 6,8 seconds.
Introduced in 2006 and built from 2007, the next genaration of the Type R nearly just changed on the exterior. It had the same inline four cylinder N/A engine with just 1 hp more and also made the sprint from 0-62 mph in 6,6 seconds. The top speed was 235 km/h (146mph) and it also had a six speed manual transmission. In my opinion, the FN2 was the worst generation, because it didn´t look that great and the performance wasn´t increased. But still, the car wasn´t that bad and I´m still excited when I see one on the streets
Unveiled in 2015 and built since then, this hothatch is a game changer. It comes with an 2,0 litre turbocharged engine, that makes 310 hp and boosts the car to 62 mph in just 5,7 seconds. The engine is derived from the early 2000´s Honda K Engine and Honda uses consuming technologies to improve the power the engine makes, including specially coated cylinder walls, the VTEC- technology, an aluminium engine block and the exhaust manifold completely integrated into the cylinder head. The car has a six speed manual transmission which got much praise because of its short shiftlanes and a nice feedback. The Civic Type R is still FWD, and that´s a great thing, because nearly all competitors are AWD or even RWD. I am a very big Honda fan and I love those Type Rs, and I hope Honda continues to build such caracteristic cars and stunning looking cars for Car guys like us!

I like the original the most, because it looked the most like a “sleeper” in my opinion. It’s small and cute, but can still pack a worthy punch.
