Question about R32 GTS-T (RB20DET). For any other other R32 owners, I'd really appreciate the help:

After having been warmed up, my oil pressure gauge will usually read between 2 or 3 kg/cm2 while idling (& just below 4 while driving). However, very occasionally (only happened 4 times the past 2 weeks) I’ve seen my gauge drop as low as around 1 kg/cm2 at idle which is pretty worrying to me. Luckily I’ve been close to home each time it has happened. But next day I start it & drive awhile, it returns back to 2 or 3 at idle like nothing changed. This weekend, I plan to cut open my oil filter to check for possible bearing deterioration. I was wondering if that low of a reading after very well warmed up is normal or not?

I can’t tell you if that’s normal or not for the car. However, if it’s not normal it could be a gunked up pump that is heating up and becoming less efficient.

That’ll probably be my next lead. I cut open my oil filter & no evidence of any metal shavings in it. Thanks for the advice.

the gauge and sensor are know for not being too reliable . If you are really worried try to fit an aftermarket one, you should notice pretty quickly if you have any issue .

Thanks for the advice. After searching around further the other day, I did find a forum someone describing the same exact thing. & I think the sensor is interchangeable with the 240SX and/or 300ZX, so won’t be too expensive.

As said before, it’s the gauge/sensor. The one in my car used to drop that low and then the warning light would come one, but I had a nasty oil leak causing the oil to… leak out. I have since fixed it.
