Déjà vu.

Where do you remember this open-diff drift machine from? The famous Manga touge series Initial-D,or Gran Turismo. Where ever you remember it from,we can both agree that this is one bad ass drift machine. The AE86 generation of the Toyota Corolla Levin and Toyota Sprinter Trueno was introduced in 1983 as a coupé and a hatchback. This was the fifth generation of the Corolla. In classic Toyota code, the “A” represents the engine that came in the car (4A series), “E” represents the Corolla, “8” represents the fifth generation (E80 series) and “6” represents the variation within this generation. The Levin has fixed-headlights, and the Trueno has retractable headlights, both could be hatchback or coupe. The export model name Corolla covers both variations. You had a choice of three engines and two transmissions.
A 1.6 liter 4A-C inline-four, a 1.6 liter 4A-GEU inline-four, and a 1.6 liter 4A-GEC inline-four could all be bolted on either a T50 5-speed manual,or an A42DL 4-speed automatic. In Japan, the Corolla AE86 was called “ハチロク”,or Hachi-Roku in english, which meant “eighty-six” in Japanese. In Japan, the Sprinter Trueno was exclusive to Toyota Japan dealerships called Toyota Vista Store, while the Corolla Levin was exclusive to Toyota Corolla Store. The word “trueno” is Spanish for thunder, and “levin” is Middle English for “lightning”. AE86 is not the only car that was named like that, for example, AE85 was commonly named as “Hachi-Go”. The AE86’s fuel injected inline-four,which was later used in the Toyota MR2 AW11,Toyota Celica GT-R,and the Toyota Carina GT,makes a maximum output of 128 horsepower and 110 pounds-feet of torque. The 4A-GE engines used in the AE86 and AW11 were equipped with T-VIS (Toyota Variable Intake System). The AE86 had an optional LSD. (#OpenDiffLife)
The AE86 used ventilated disc brakes. The car was equipped with a MacPherson strut style independent suspension at the front and a four-link live axle with coil springs for the rear. Stabilizer bars were present at both ends. Sixty miles per hour came in an awful but forgivable 8.7 seconds and has a top speed of 111 miles per hour. Production of the AE86 ended in 1987,but,it’s remake came out in 2012 and has been in production since then. 350,000 AE86s were produced in the five year time span.
