Celica 6th Generation. The last Power house

CELICA 6th generation
1994 would bring a once again improved Celica. Toyota design this car to be a younger sibling to the legendary Supra.

                                    Production year 1994

This yeah the legendary GT-FOUR would be excluded from the states. We now we’re only offered

  • Underpowered ST making 101 horses
  • GT still Underpowered might I add only coming in at 135 horsepower at crank

Now Japan got

  • ST
  • GT
  • GT-Four.

Now this year brought amazing upgrade to this class. New Turbo set up, new suspension. Better safety. This also would go on to be the most powerful full Celica sold coming in at 235 horsepower.

                                                   1996

96 bought minor changes to the Celica line up

  • Same styling brought to America from Japan
  • Body kit options such as spoiler, side skirts, bumpers and more
  • 25 year anniversary model brought to Japan (glorified ST)
  • Celica GT strangely discontinued. Now I find this interesting why did they discontinue the GT for this year and the next. You’d think it would be the ST to be discontinued but nope.
                                                    1997

Nothing special only think was Japan got

  • projector head lights

                                                    1998

  • GT returns
  • ST discontinued
  • UK got a SR which was the same as our ST
                                          1999 The end

Toyota pull all models of the Celica beside the convertible strangely enough for this final year. They then release the consept for the 7th generation. Thus we take a step to the final days of the Celica

Remember
Stay golden

You are missing a few newer toyota’s that weren’t well known but were made..

  1. The 2001 - 2003 Toyota Solara TRD Supercharged edition which made 247HP and 242Lb ft of torque all routed through a close ratio 5 speed manual.
  2. 2005 - 2008 X-Runner TRD edition supercharged pickup made 315HP and 322lb feet.. it was no slouch motor trend said it handled better than the 350z of the time and at 0-60 in the low 5’s it wasn’t slow either.. (30,000 produced)
  3. 2009 - current Camry SE (XSE) v6 i know it’s not a sports car, but at 268 HP and only weighing in at 3484lbs it’s in the same category based on power to weight ratios as many of Toyota’s high performance cars.. Personally if Toyota would bring out a 6speed manual version of the new camry V6 i would pick one up in a second.. turbo charging that 3.5v6 would make it a rocket..
