Did you remember in Gran Turismo #25 : The Chevrolet Corvette GRAND SPORT (C4) '96
The description from “Gran Turismo”
After a year-long absence, the Corvette returned in 1984 with the C4 model. This model would see its performance rise as the years went on. In 1987, the Callaway Twin Turbo option was made available. Then in 1990, with the addition of option packages such as the ZR1 with its Lotus-tuned DOHC engine, the 90’s Vettes recovered everything that had made them so desirable in years past.
These improvements even managed to make their way into the base model with the appearance of the LT1 in 1992, marking the proud return of a 296 HP engine as standard on Corvettes.
In 1996, the ultimate C4 went on sale against the backdrop of rumors about the next generation C5 spreading amongst Corvette fans. With the option code Z16, it took its name from the old factory racer, Corvette Grand Sport.
At the heart of the Corvette GS was the LT4, 5.7L OHV V8. Based on the LT1, this motor generated a maximum output of 330 HP (328 BHP) due to an increase in rev limit of about 600 rpm. This was achieved with tuning that included special cylinder heads to increase compression, cam shafts, roller rockers, and a fully balanced crank shaft.
The feel of the LT4 was distinguished from the LT1 by its sharp, peaky character.
The Corvette GS had aggressive looks as well, with an exclusive metallic blue paint with racing stripes. Of the 1000 sold, 810 were coupes, and 190 convertibles. All were equipped with manual transmissions as no automatics were made available. As a side note, all non-GS manual Corvettes were also equipped with the LT4.
Supplement of me
The Chevy Corvette C4 GS Coupe is my favourite Corvette because of this look with the blue paint with white stripes, we feel this modest sportsmanship in these lines and its 5.7 L V8, and we have this impression of being installed, as if we were together aboard “Made In Chevy KITT” and a luxury supercar (Yeah… I admit it’s a little luxury when you’re dealing with something released in 1000 solds including 190 convertibles, designed to travel to the USA basically).
So, If you want to acquire one of its american sport car either convertible or coupe, good luck because according to car sales site http://www.leparking.fr/, there is a sale in Switzerland (one convertible), and the rest, in USA (New York, Pennsylvania, Winsconsin,…) for a price of around between €23.000 - €38.000 (£19.163 - £31.658) in America !
In the mechanic, remember that this is a cast-iron block, aluminum head, OHV 2 valve/cyl, 5.7 L V8 with a maximum output of 330 HP (328 BHP) at 5.800 RPM and 340 lb-ft (461 Nm) at 4.500 RPM in rear-wheels. The engine can achieve 6.300 RPM maximum. The fuel injection is an elect sequential port. This 0-60 mph reached 5.2 sec and top speed reached 266 kph (165 mph). It owns the vacuum and the ABS. The transmission is a 6 speed manual gearbox. The curb weight is 1519 kg (3350 lbs).
Well, this weight/power ratio is 4.6 kg/hp, the equivalent of a 2003 Jaguar XKR Standard (395 hp), a 1991 Maserati Racing Standard (285 hp) or a 1990 Maserati Shamal Standard (326 hp).
The Chevrolet Corvette C4 GS also appear in Forza Motorsport 3 (2009), Forza Motorsport 4 (2011), Corvette (2003), Forza Motorsport 2 (2007) and Ondarun (2008).
