Pixel Car Racer: A Review

Since everyone seems to be talking about/ reviewing Forza 6: Apex, I thought I’d do something different instead. I’ve been following the development of this game for a long time now, and when I saw a link for the beta on their Facebook page (go check it out:https://www.facebook.com/PixelCarRacer/?fref=ts), I immediately downloaded it and started playing.

Before I start, I must stress that this game is in the development stage and that this is a beta version. Anything which I mention may be changed in the future before the final release.

The first thing which I noticed about this game is that there is no lag. At all. That’s remarkable, considering that my phone is pretty much absolute sh*t when it comes to gaming.

I can’t really talk about the graphics, because it’s not meant to be realistic and stay at a million fps all the time. It looks good for what it is. The frame rate was good throughout, not a single lag spike.

Now, moving on to the gameplay. It does take some time to get used to, but after that it’s effortless to play (still fun). The story mode is not available in the beta, along with body kits and a few other things. There are three difficulty levels: Beginner, Amateur and Expert. Only the ‘Beginner’ option is available in the beta, though.
There’s four main race types: Drag, Street, Story and Online. Only the first two are currently usable. Both of the unlocked menus have their own sub-options. In addition to this, there is a Test Drive option in the Garage.

The beta version itself has nearly 60 cars. As of now, most of the collection is made up of Japanese and German cars, but the developers have said that they are planning to add in more American cars (thanks,Ian :P). There’s also various forms of car customization, from turbos to wheels to seats.

If there’s one thing that bugs me, it’s the cost of the cars. Most of them are $10K. That’s weird, because you start with $100K. It also means that an EG Civic is the same price as a Smart car (yes, there’s a Smart car) and an NSX.

I’ve only been playing the game for about an hour, but I already love it. I highly suggest that you download it right now.

I’m beta testing as well for the S6 Edge. Early in the beta, (literally 5 minutes after release) there was some funny hijinks with the S6 platform, but Furukawa was quick to fix it. 1900HP SN95.

They update it every 15 minutes lol :P I talked to them about a problem about an hour after I downloaded it and they’re like ‘come on man, we’ve released like five new versions since we fixed that’.

A few of those were thanks tomy s6 haha.

Is it only for android?

As of now, yes.

The starting money and prices are just for testing. We will start everyone around 12k on release.

Game is awesome i started yesterday but its really addicting, i want more cars! Most of my dream cars are in this game and i can only pick 2 :( (id be a terrible rich person) but keep it up guys i cant wait for story and all other features to be available
