Peugeot Quasar

I was reading up on Group B Rally, and I came across an article about the Peugeot Quasar. This was a concept car, obviously made by Peugeot. This concept was essentially a 205 T16 with a more traditional supercar look, save for the parts that can only be described as sci-fi. The interior follows the latter theme of sci-fi. Aside from the bright red leather, the interior was ahead of it’s time. On the passenger side, there was a set of controls that looks like it’s from something that travels through space, and an the center, has a CRT monitor mounted for navigation, and to send and receive what they called Telex messages. And on the driver’s side was a gauge cluster developed by Clarion. It’s more of a screen rather than a cluster. All of this put together makes quite an interesting machine. A 600hp AWD group B derived luxury car is not something you’d see every day.

But the real interesting thing about it was how it proved the thin lines between supercars and hatchbacks of the time. Without the different body and the interior, this car would still be a hot hatch, just with emphasis on the hot.

I couldn’t figure out how to put this in the post on mobile, but here is an image of the interior of the Quasar.

Information I found on the Quasar was not very specific. The articles only said it was based on the t16. I really don’t know how close to a t16 it really is, but parts were certainly shared, as was the setup.
