Let's discuss car spotting
Car spotting is rather “controversial” in my family. My nephew is banned from car spotting because his parents say that taking pictures of someone’s property without the owner’s permission is wrong. Personally, I don’t know which side I’m in, I do car spotting sometimes but not taking pictures of it (memory space, bro). Car spotters don’t ask owner’s permission as far as I know, but yes, taking pictures of someone’s property could be very wrong.
Now, my question is:
“Do you think taking pictures of someone’s car without the owner’s permission is bad? Why?”
Comments
Taking pictures - no problemo… Posting them on the internet with the plates visible - not okay… At least, if you didn’t ask for permission to post the pictures, take away the license plates
Lol? Why would it be wrong? He should feel pretty good if I take my phone out to photograph his car, I’m not doing anything wrong. I see it like a validation of the owner good tastes. And if the owner has the guts to leave his property out in the street he should be thankful I’m not vandalising it :P
Quotes from his parents: “Hur…hurr…don’t take pictures of someone else’s property without their permission…hur…hur…there’s law about this (yes, there is in Indonesia, about personal property stuff)….hur..hur..cars are their personal property…hur…hur..”
Of course, you’re actually right.
I see nothing wrong with it at all. You are completely allowed to take pictures of someone elses car. If you want to go into legal discussion you’re completely legally allowed to take pictures of someone elses car as long as it is on public property or with the permission off the owner of the property you and the car is located in at the moment, laws around posting the picture with vissable plates on social media varies depending on where you are (in most places I belive it is like this)
I don’t see what’s illegal here
If I would be car owner, I will be happy that other people will take pictures of my car
I think as plates are visible to the public anyway and there I a legal requirement for them to be visible it should be no problem taking pictures of the car. Posting them on the Internet however I think should require owners permission.
No.
Well…why?
If someone was to take my cars pic and post it online showing his appreciation I’d be happy, it’s no big deal taking pics of cars I guess as long as the number plate is not visible
My thoughts are the same
But hey
Who will post ur micra online?
Jkjkjkjk
I’m fine with it because if I didn’t want people taking pictures of it then I wouldn’t be driving around in public, no?
If they’re in a public place then its free game
Exactly. Smh, Indonesian parents.
I know what you’re saying… I often feel guilt of some what if taking a picture of a nice car, but…
If the car is nice enough for you to go through the effort of taking a picture of it on your phone anyway, I’m sure it’s nothing new to the owner… it might even be the owners intent to get attention, right?
