5 Reasons Your First Car Probably Won't Be Your Dream Car #blogpost
One: Second Cars Exist
More than likely, your first car won’t be your only car you will ever own. Promotions and new jobs can mean more money for a better car than you already have . Also, part of the automotive passion is having something that you’re working towards. If you get your dream car for your first car, then that can kill your ambition. You already have you dream car, so why strive for something greater?
Two: Chances Are High You’ll Stuff Your Car During Your First Few Years On The Road
In the United States, car accidents are the leading cause of death for teenagers. With that in mind, why would you want to drive a car that is rather expensive and hard to control like a newer Mustang GT. A family friend has a philosophy of giving his kids cars that aren’t too valuable “that way when they do crash them they won’t cry about it.”
Three: The Joy Of Owning A Personal Car For The First Time Is Overlooked
It’s understandable the car enthusiasts want to have the perfect first car, but something with that is often overlooked. The sole fact of having a personal car is very liberating. The fact you can go wherever you want whenever you want is very liberating; with that in mind, we should count our lucky stars.
Four: Money
Quite honestly, young people don’t always make the best financial decisions and this can relate to cars. Not everyone can afford to buy and own a brand new BMW coupe. When deciding what your first car should be, both driving fun and running costs should be considered equally. Having a car you can only afford to drive one day a week kind of defeats the purpose of owning a car.
Five: Parents
A sad but true fact for most of us, what we get for a first car is heavily influenced by our parents. This can mean that obviously fast and flashy sports cars are out of the question due to high insurance and gas costs plus they think you’ll be safer driving a Toyota Corolla instead.

Depends on your dream car, parents, and budget. My car is my dream car, even though it is a pos. It was on the cheap side, had to work and save up for 2 years, and took a few months to convince my parents so it worked out.
Unless your parents are rich lol
Honestly, your first car’s most important feature has to be drivability. I had a Miata, and it was about as perfect as it gets for learning how to handle a car. It had mechanical problems and was easy to fix due to the simple injection system and roomy engine bay, it was light so when it did break I could push it myself, and handled like… Well, a Miata. Also great gearbox to learn flawless shifting. Now however, I’m on my second car, and it’s a terrifying Subaru WRX with too much power, saggy suspension and a terrible, horrible transmission. And I LOVE it. I can’t get enough of the car squatting, spitting flames and actively trying to put me in a ditch every time I open up the gas at any speed lower than 60, or any time I go above 100. It’s truly thrilling, but I would NEVER trust 16 year old me with this. Actually, I don’t think I trust myself with it right now either.
What if my dream car is a 250.000 mile Honda Civic??
This is why I feel lucky to have my truck. It’s one of my old dream cars, but I can still work up from a 6-cylinder farm truck. While a lot of the other cars I wanted may have been faster, more interesting, or more efficient, this one is just better for me. It’s easier to fix, it’s old and cheap so it’s not a huge deal if something happens to it, and it’s built like a tank so it can stand up to an idiotic teenager.
This was my first car, a Fiat Seicento Abarth, it had a 1.1 4 cilinder engine with 54 bhp but it flew like a cart through the city

I wouldn’t mind 😂
There is hope, my first is my dream car. BMW 325ci
