NA or NB?

Since i am planing on getting my very first Miata in about a year (don’t have the money yet) i wanted to ask all of you here if my first one should be the classic NA (my favorite tbh…) or the NB (since it has in most cases more power, is more modern and safer)? if my calculations are right, i am about to have pretty much 3k € (+/- 500€) and i know that this should be enough to get one in good condition and if i buy it in fall or winter ghe prizes will be much lower. but what things are there to notice? what year? what engine? are there any special things to recognize when inspecting the car of my choice? and last nut not least, what differences are there exactly between those two generations?
