#differentbuild AMC Eagle JDM/Hoonicorn Build
Intro:
So I wanted to make some kind of variation to the classic AMC Eagle wagon. At first, I wanted to make a Mad Max Ford Falcon Interceptor mashup with the AMC Eagle. It was a good idea, and I hope create it someday, but I was inspired by a video on “dajiban” Dodge Vans in Japan which are put on Watanabe rims. I noticed that the AMC Eagle would look good as a jdm style, with its square, plainish body which resembled early Japanese classics such as the Datsun 510, Nissan Skyline, and 1st gen Toyota Celica. Then, I thought what I should do to give this Eagle some legit tuner cred, and decided to go with the twin turbo set up which pops out of the hood and a white ram air scoop in the middle to symbolize the colors of AMC’s logo, as an homage to America’s former biggest little car company. So thats the design of the visuals done, lets get into the build.
#1. Watanabe Rims, Goodyear EAGLE tires (see what I did there ;)
The Watanabe rims are reasonably sized (16-19 inches?) and a nice bronze color. These nice rims are mated to low-profile Goodyear Eagle tires.
#2. Twin Turbos
Using a similar turbo setup to the Hoonicorn v2, with no catalytic converter as this is a serious performance machine. What would be different is that this system does not use methanol, but a traditional gas or possibly e85 optional setup. The air going into the turbo scroll would pass through an open air intercooler on top of the engine (more later.
#3. Lowered with coilovers
To wrap it all up, a massive drop in ride height would be necessary, and adjustable coil overs are the only real option. This combination of mods really enhances the look of the car. The sway bars would also be upgraded.
#4. Top Intake/Intercooler
The center intake is from a Dodge Hemi Cuda’, and underneath it is a top mount intercooler before the air goes into the engine. This intercooler is necessary, because the system is no longer methanol based for fuel.
#5. The Engine and Transmission
To symbolize AMC’s absorption into Chrysler, the engine is a 6.1 V8 from the Dodge Challenger SRT-8, but now with twin turbos, who knows what kind of power this engine could make. It could be close to 1,000 hp!!! This power would all go to a manual transmission, specifically, a beefed-up Tremec Magnum XL 6 Speed Manual transmission. Throw in a cheeky Hurst Shift knob, and you got yourself a drive to write home about. Alternate: for more jdm cred, go for a 2JZ Inline Six or 1UZ Toyota V8.
#6. Carbon Ceramic Brembo Brakes
A necessary upgrade with the high horsepower engine mods, Carbon Ceramic Brembo Brakes would do the trick. I can not overstress how much this mod would do for safety. The system used would specifically be Brembo’s top of the line GT-R Brakes with 6 pistons front, 4 pistons rear.
#7. Stickers (optional)
This is an option to further emphasize the jdm street cred style of this car, you could add jdm style stickers, and maybe sneek a Stancenation decal in there too. The JDM symbol is a must.
Conclusion:
Hope you guys enjoyed this #differentbuild . This is my first time doing this type of post, and I had a lot of fun doing it. What would you guys do to the AMC Eagle? Did you like my build idea?
