Why didn't the Mercedes 600 Grosser's hydraulic powered windows, boot, etc make it to today's cars?

Honestly the boot opening is extremely cool, but why did it die? Was it too expensive? Or not reliable?

Btw if anybody knows how heavy the system is, I’ll be glad to know.

It’s extremely expensive. Something like the door catch could cost upward of £5,000. Other than very expensive HyperCars for instance the Bugatti Veyron’s rear wing it is not used due to expense

It’s very expensive, requires a lot of hoses and lots of pressure, needs the correct fluid and the owner of the car HAS to know how to use it (shutting the boot by hand well snap the hinges, so you HAVE to use the hydraulic system

They’re all too expensive. Somebody will probably say “planned obselescence” but it’s a cost factor

Someone could badly injure himself by those windows and boot lid. Those things were like guillotines
