Amazing Survivor 1978 Lincoln Mark V
This amazing example of a 1978 Lincoln Continental Mark V Diamond Jubilee Edition just sold at auction this past march—-for $57,200.00 Here’s why: The car was purchased new by a gentleman for his wedding anniversary. Sadly, the wife of the gentleman that bought it passed away several days later. The widower could not bear to drive it. So it sat untouched, covered in his garage for several years. Unfortunately, the owner then became ill and shipped the car to a friend with a large warehouse. The story goes that the car sat on the elevator of the warehouse due to the elevator not being able to cope with the car’s immense size and weight, causing it to jam in between floors. It went up for auction because the owner of the warehouse removed it from his elevator.
Now here’s the kicker. The car only has 35 miles on the odometer. 35 miles! It is sad that the story was so morbid, but this will be the car that everybody looks at for future restorations.

I saw one with the exact same color in Vancouver about 1 month ago!
This color was called “Diamond Blue”, which was reserved specifically for Diamond Jubilees. You could also have it in “Jubilee Gold” which was also reserved for the Diamond Jubilees. for 1979 both of these colors were able to be ordered on a normal Mark V, since the Diamond Jubilee was for 1978 only. Do you happen to have a picture of the one you saw?
