10 things you learn after owning a dodge charger Mopar edition ( Mopar 11)

Before I start I’ll go through the car because most of you have probably never heard of a Mopar 11 before. Basically Mopar started making special editions cars each year from 2010. In 2011 Mopar decided to use the charger. Visually they added pitch black paint (only available on the Mopar edition in 2011) the blue stripe, matching katzkin leather interior, 20in Mopar rims and pistol grip shifter. Performance wise they added bigger sway bars, front and rear strut braces, stiffer springs, bigger brakes and 3.91 rear gears which drastically increase acceleration over the regular 3.06 rear gears. The car comes with the 5.7l hemi 370 HP 395 tq which goes through a 5sp automatic (yes its a automatic stop complaining).

  1. The first thing I Learned is just how low insurance is. I’m a young guy so insurance was the reason I got this over a challenger. The insurance I pay on the charger is less than what I would pay on a base line corolla.

  2. THIS CAR IS ON RAILS. Caps lock is needed to get through the thick skulls of muscle car haters. The Mopar handling goodies allow this car to handle like a dream. The car NEVER understeers it just hooks and rotates around the corner. If your inner hoon comes out this car will drift corners and make you look like ken block although in a big rwd sedan.

  3. This car pulls. The internet will tell 370 HP in a 4100 lb sedan is not much but there wrong. No matter where you are in the rev range this car pulls. It’ll spin the rear(245 wide) tires at 130 kph.

  4. People think your a cop. Yes as you drive along you will see people slam on there brakes cause they see a blacked out charger driving down the road. Then they see a big blue strip over the car, realize I’m not a cop and continue in there way.

  5. It turns heads. As you drive along there’s always some one giving you the thumbs up or asking questions as you go through the common occurrence of filling it up.

  6. That automatic is actually very good. I’ll get hate for this but I actually like the tranny. Cause its a 5sp your only ever a couple downshifts from redline. The transmission will also adapt to how you are driving and hold gears at redline and downshift aggressively when slowing down. There is also auto stick which when you tap the shifter left/right the car downshifts/upshifts.

  7. The car is more comfortable than a big soft couch. The seats are the most comfortable things I’ve ever sat in. The ride is perfect as well it is not floaty at all but soaks up any road imperfections.

  8. This car is big. Its 16ft long, you could fit a smart car in the rear leg room. I’m over 6ft and with the seat all the way back my feat can’t touch the pedals

  9. The car is reliable. So far I haven’t had any trouble with the car at all. Because it is a big n/a v8 maintenance on it is cheaper than smaller turbo engines. I’ve heard of the 5.7 hemi lasting for 400 000+ miles with only general maintenance.

  10. Because of the size of the car you can fit 5 adults in the car fairly comfortable pick up groceries and because of the great handling have fun at the track. Its one of those cars you can do anything in.

  1. It gets attention.

Sweet. I didn’t know they did the charger mopar in 2011. I personally am not a fan of the tail lights on that car, but I have much respect for it. My family has an ‘09 Challenger SRT8 in Hemi Orange. So far it has been a dream and also gets attention. The charger /challenger are quite simmilar. You just pick how many doors you want.

I wanted a challenger for the manual transmission but insurance is just to high. The srt8 challengers are awsome. My uncle got one to that’s white with blue strips.

How’s the fuel in that

On the highway I can get 25mpg because the car will switch from 8cly to 4cly but around town I get around 10mpg. The 3.91 gears really effect the fuel economy though. You can get over 30mpg with the 3.06 gears

I recently upgraded from a Concord. The last RW drive I owned (outside of Trucks and SUVs) was an 87 Nissan 200 SX - big difference! Living in Northern Ontario means snow and ice - usually quite a bit. I picked up 4 studded Toyo tires on 5-spoke black Envy steel rims (look exactly like the stock rims) and I haven’t skidded or spun out once. I don’t have weights in the trunk just keep the gas tank at 3/4 or more.
As far as gas mileage, I’m getting better mileage than in the Concord with a V6! The Eco drive works amazingly well. Even in stop and go traffic 4 cyls cut out quickly and your cruising in a 4 cyl muscle car - that can hit 70 from 30 in less than 3 secs.

Picked up #80 in October (less than 100 km) and have been having the time of my life. Top speed (before I backed off) is 145 mph and there was still power left. Studded tires x 4 and a full tank of gas means I haven’t gotten stuck in the far north (Thunder Bay Ont - 250 miles north of Duluth) even in the deepest snow. The setup of the car means unless it’s a Viper or high end Vette I haven’t been beaten yet off the line. It’s stable, reliable, fast, has a smooth V8, more options than a BMW and gets better gas mileage than my Bonneville SSE or Concord limited. Phenomenal car and the best out of the 17 vehicles I’ve owned. Every one of the 10 points is bang on correct. Love, love, love my Mopar 11.
