My (very) #Different Build - Proton Wira "quality upgrade" build!
First of all, I came up with this just now.
So, here is my very different project build, fully created by me. It’s a so-called “quality upgrade” to a Proton Wira, a very common car in Malaysia. Let’s find out how I’m doing this.
So what? A "quality upgrade" build? No way, dude. It's fxxxing pointless. -Some so-called "car guy"
A “quality upgrade” build is a way to make a cheap, low-end car to make it more upmarket and more, erm…expensive. Like a VW Golf to an Audi A3. Or a Toyota Prius to a Lexus CT. Duh.
The Base:
For those who don’t know what’s the car is, The Proton Wira is actually a re-badged Mitsubishi Lancer made by Malaysian car maker Proton. It’s very popular in Malaysia and, even years after it stopped production, those cars are still very common. Below here is the Wiras sold in Malaysian used car website Carlist.my. (yes, more than 800 used units for sale even for now.
I would pick a 2001+ model because it has Lotus tuned suspension. Lotus-tuned suspension = better handling. Better off would be the nicest Wira sedan after it’s very last facelift.
Any engine version would be OK for me, as long I want to remove it.
Mods: A whole lot of it.
The engine: I would pick a better one to replace the car’s Mitsubishi Orion 4-pot petrol engine. Not saying that Mitsubishi engines are bad but it is too ancient for 2016 standards. So, bye bye, old piece of s*. Now, I’m going to announce this…
BEHOLD, THE ALL NEW VW GOLF R'S EA888!!!!!
It has nearly 300 hp. It has a great performance, as seen in the epic VW Golf R MK7. And it’s tech is centuries better than the Mitsubishi old-timer. I don’t want to make mods on that engine, except delimit the top speed of this car. Also, I would also fit the 6-speed DSG of the Golf R too, Oh yes, add in a larger fuel tank too.
EXTERIOR: Here is the car. I would fit more larger, more stock-ish wheels and better tyres. And I would fit the headlights into HID ones and remove those cheap plastic parts. Not to mention that with those exceptions, I’m going to make it mostly unchanged to give it a sleeper look. Also, replace some body panels to lighter, more crash-proof materials and install better side mirrors.
CHASSIS/DRIVETRAIN: I’m going with better aluminum parts (CF is too expensive) for the chassis. Redesign it to make it more stiffer. Make it more better quality than before. I’d try to make it AWD and also change those cheap ones originally fitted in this car into better, more expensive ones. BTW, Brembo disc brakes, LSD and better springs too.
INTERIOR: Forget cheap fabrics and plastic, nice Nappa leather and better wood/metal/CF dash is here. Put in a nice multi function steering wheel, wrapped in nice leather. Install a Android Auto/Apple CarPlay compliant multi function, touchscreen display. Add in some random gadgets, like a better stereo system. Voila.
And I try to do that like those shown in that page.
SAFETY/TECH: ABS? Check. TC? check. Moar airbags? Check. Other tech? Check. Better batteries and electronics to hold all my tech in-car? Check. But I still want to make this car as fun as I can. Slap in a better system, that makes all tech controlled by me, not by the car.
And, congrats. I have just become a proud owner of a modded cheap car with upgraded quality.
“LOLz. How can you do that? You’ve just made a cheap Lancer bad copy into a heavy, synethic car!” However, that’s not bad at all. Turns out you could make a cheap Golf-level competitor more 2016 than 1992. What’s more, I could be more happier because I made a cheap car better than before. BTW, don’t mind the haters. It’s more annoying than bad tech in car.
