Mk3 Focus ST or MK2 Focus ST ?which engine is better and did Ford have to replace the LEGENDARY 2.5 5cyl unit. Watch our video down below for more info on why DOWNSIZING IS BAD
I mean… maybe this is not the right forum for this because aside from a pleasant warble the mk3 engine is better than the mk2 in every conceivable way. It’s more powerful, much more economical (not even close) and lighter. It’s strength is demonstrated by the fact that the mk3 ST was faster than the 300bhp front heavy mk2 RS around the Top Gear track. Now I’m not saying that’s a scientific test but as the faster and infinitely more usable car I’d always go mk3. The fuel consumption of the 2.5 is a serious barrier to entry and besides it handles like a turd.
I was under the impression that the Mk2 was the more enjoyable car to drive. I thought the Mk3 had a tendency to understeer.
