The HTT Pléthore LC-750
Canada’s Unkown Supercar
When you think about Canada, you think of maple syrup, politeness, but definitely not supercar. Here’s the story of a Canadian supercar that not many people know about.
History
HTT, the brand who produces the Pléthore at a very limited number of 6 per year, was founded by two race car fanatics, Luc Chartrand and Carl Descoteaux. Their goal was to create a unique, perfectly balanced supercar. They started with prototypes, then went to TV show Dragon’s Den to try to get funding for their project. They left the show with a 1.5M$ CDN deal. However, when one of the investors went to test-drive it, the transmission failed, which stopped the funding. However, an unidentified party has continued funding, and this is why they are still alive today.
The Car
Exterior and Engine
First of all, the body is monocoque carbon fiber. This lowers the weight of the car down to 1250kg (2750lbs). The car also has an integrated rollcage, for track day. Now the interesting part.
The Pléthore is powered by a HTT-built, 7L, supercharged all-aluminium V8, which outputs 750hp, and can make the car reach 60 mph in less than 3 seconds. The engine is in a perfect central longitudal position, due to the seating configuration (more on that later). This enables the Pléthore to have a perfect 50/50 weight balance once the driver is seated. Also, it is important to note that the power is delivered via a six-speed manual gearbox. Yes, you read it right, a manual in a modern supercar. However, the car comes with both a normal shift lever, but also with paddle shifters.
Moreover, the mighty car sits on electronically-controlled double wishbones, which makes the Pléthore height-adjustable, which gives the driver two ride height choices: 5 inches, and 7.5 inches. Obviously, with all that power comes good braking power. In fact, the HTT Pléthore is fitted with race-inspired, perforated 15-inch disc brakes.
Interior
The driving position in the Pléthore is identical as the McLaren F1’s, which is, a central driving position with two passengers slightly further behind. The car’s steering wheels is any F1 fan’s dream. It shows the car’s RPM, speed and gear directly on the steering wheel. Also, the control panel is actuall ceiling-mouted, which is kinda cool.
Additional Info
First of all, only 99 of these cars are being/were built. It is therefore very difficult to obtain one, since the company apparently doesn’t let anyone buy one of these cars. Also, the price isn’t mentionned on HTT’s website, but different sources seem to say that the price is around 750 000$ CDN.
Also, for the exhaust note guys, you can watch/hear the car here: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1C0e2zjFoEg) and here: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x7P5k_v0qmI) .
