1985 Direct Connection Dodge Shadow "Yellow Bird" #turbododge

In 1985 Chrysler’s performance division of the time, Direct Connection, was given one of the all-new Dodge Shadow’s to play with.

The car featured larger brakes, an electric master cylinder, beefier suspension, lowring springs, quick ratio steering rack, minivan steering knuckles.

The engine was Chrysler’s 2.2L Turbo I, but featured Direct Connection (DC) race ported head, DC intercooler, and a prototype header. Output was 180 bhp at 11 psi and 210 ft-lbs.

A prototype 5-speed manual transmission was also used, rumored to be a pre-production unit of the A555 transmission used in later vehicles featuring a 2.2L Turbo II engine.

One car was made, it’s where-bouts are unknown as it was said to have disappeared from a storage warehouse.
