1999 Honda Accord Coupé 3.0L-I V6 CG2

This was the second car I bought. Well not really bought because it was given to me. Somebody on the Prelude Club board wanted to get rid of it as the automatic gearbox was shifting erraticaly. I’ve jumped first on the opportunity. It was quite a bet as I didn’t know exactly what the problem was with the gearbox and I had never rebuilt one. It was the perfect opportunity to show my skills as most people said that was impossible.

It took me three/four weeks during the summer including the time waiting for the rebuild parts coming from the USA but it was worth it. The first time I started it, and took it for a ride out was the most exciting as I didn’t know if it would work or not. It was allright, I could enjoy the smoothness of the V6 engine on the winding road above Monaco, in the large leather seats with the automatic A/C.

Funny story when I went to Monaco by night for some pics on the port. There was a cruise boat and some american guy waiting for a taxi to go to the Casino. After 45mn waiting for it, as he was getting a bit pissed, I’ve offered him the ride, drove it like a uber, and nice surpise, he left me a 20€ tip. It made my day.

It’s now been three year that I own that car, didn’t have the opportunity to drive it much, about 10 000km, but I like it. Even though right now, it’s waiting for a new Powersteering line that broke. The fluid was leaking on the exhaust manifold, I let you imagine what happened. Despite that, it’s still working strong and is now my daily drive, beside my Accord Type R.
