Well I actually got a compact instead of a sedan, because less weight you know :D
I’m sorry to tell you this, but the bare 4-door shell weights 218kg while the compacts weights 239kg. With doors and hood the 4-door shell weighs 296 kg and your cars 302 kg. You got several convertible parts that cause the car to be so heavy.
The negatives out weigh the positives. And as the other guy said there isn’t much of a difference in weight
Whats with the hate with the E36 compact? I know they got the old E30 suspension but so what? I think its still a good car
The suspension is NOT the problem here.
Copied from another off my posts: The E30 has a semitrailing arm rear suspension. As you can see the control arms are tilted inward, to lower the roll center. But this geometry causes the wheels to toe out under compression. That means instability under acceleration because of squat. The outer wheel will also toe out under roll in a corner, which will cause snap oversteer and instability under lifting or really heavy cornering. All that can be avoided with a regular E36. The axle kind of works on the E30, because it it so light. Early 911 had also semi trailing arm suspension. You can see what this causes on Magnus Walkers 277 :)
It’s so true. I see an E36 coming, and I think, oh hell watta nice Coupeeeee, WTF, just the average 316 Compact. Sometimes I think it’s a nice Touring, but no, there are too much Compacts, sorry I just don’t like it. I’m more of a Touring fan since my dad has one with M-Package and the M52B20 engine. Some people also don’t like the Touring, but I think it’s one of the most beautiful BMW Estates.
