Hi fellow muricans , i was wondering if the crown victoria is a great platform for racing? Can we get some hp out of the v8 in it? Are there performance parts for the crown victoria? How much a victoria interceptor go for (in acceptable condition)?

If i get one in the future i’d like to swap to a 5.0 coyote from a stang or a 6 cylinder turbo from a ford falcon , tell me if these swaps would be great or not ;)

You can find a few in cherry condition, however they’re still dogs. They’re big and heavy body-on-frame vehicles as some have pointed out. The stock engines in the later ones can be tuned decently, but there are better engines available even from Ford. The earlier ones (such as my 96) have a 4.6 litre that’s not much good for nothing.

Generally they’re geared for extended high speed operation and economy, more than fast launch. So if your idea of racing is cannonball run, you do want a Crown Vic. It will blast down the highway at 140 all day long without breaking a sweat. Since most of the time that’s illegal (outside of the Autobahn), then it’s probably not what you want.

So basically you’d have to upgrade suspension bits, bushings, all sorts of things. Then for real power, pull the cop motor and put in a different Ford v8. Cut a hole in the hood, stick a blower through it. And you still have 5000 lbs to lug down the dragstrip.

Cops beat the hell out of those old Crown Vics. If you’re going for performance, go for a Mustang engine and a T5/T56 swap. Pullouts and Mustang crates can be about the same price you got the car for, but it’s worth it for an engine you know has been freshened up inside. There be a sleeper in the making.
