I say wrong. But only because I think it makes driving to fast speeds easier, but not necessarily the control part of it.
No wont help, but it will kill you! So it’s sort of a win-win.
The thing is, in my mind, if you don’t know how to drive fast with 90HP (or less, I have 85 at the crank :() than you don’t even deserve 900hp.
Exactly, people are missing the point of this quote. Fun fact: the creator of the MX-5 is the person who said this.
Well… Yes, its sorta true but you can’t ever go 410 km/h in car with 90 but you can with 900..
LOL Thats 900bhp very well availed…
True, but a solid 250 would be nice…
(my car puts about 70 to the wheels lol)
Wrong imo, anyone can win with 10x power as long as they don’t spin out or kill themselves.
I could be in my 90hp wagon and nailing every apex with perfect braking and throttle control.
Anyone can and will beat me with a koenigsegg even if they have the worst racing line and brake too early every time, as long as they stay on the road, I’m screwed.
As long as they stay on the road, yes… I think the whole point of the statement is that if you can’t drive a 90hp car fast, its more than likely you wont have sufficient car control skill to unleash 900hp without planting it into the nearest wall or ditch.
depends on what kind of a road it is. ive beaten cars with twice the hp in my mx5 1.8 na on tvisty b roads roads. Ive beaten a volvo with 240bhp so badly actually, that after the first 3 corners, i couldn’t even see it in the rear view mirror :D its not always about power.
I think it’s left
0 - Jeremy Corbyn in 3.5 seconds
now I want to get a low power sports car and test that theory haha
it is right an wrong at the same time. MX-5 will lose to Ferrari F50 as long as the Ferrari will stay on track, and the racing line doesn’t really matter, But if you lose with an MX-5 to other similar MX-5, and both drivers jump in F50 you will lose again. and this time you lose a lot more.
Better car might let you win, but as long as the cars are equal, the better driver wins.
The only way a bad driver will do better than an experienced driver would be in a straight line, or in a course with almost no turns. I dont consider myself an experienced driver, i think i’m just “normal”, but i drive a specific mountain pass almost every week, and several times, that means i have a good part of that road on my mind. Sometimes people with cars way more powerful than mine start to tailgate my daily car thinking (pff, just another old car on front of my powerful audi!). Usually i just need 5 or 6 corners at full speed and they just disappear from my mirror, and a drive a humble 100hp nissan pulsar.
Does that make me awesome? No, i just know the road.
Does that make my daily car awesome? No, it’s just a 100hp N14.
But it proves that if you actually have to use the steering wheel, change gears and brake, your skill / or course knowledge, is way more powerful than any other thing.
