I like the whine for the same reason anyone likes turbo blow off. You can hear something happen. We live in a time where engines are soundproofed and all sound comes from an exhaust, or even from the speakers in some modern cars.
I like supercharger whine because you can hear it, and it lets you know something mechanical is happening. Same reason I love that sound of a carburettor sucking in air when engine braking. Plus high pitched whines to me mean high speed. And high revving engines are awesome and high speed is awesome and oh god cars are awesome.
I agree with you to some extent. There is definitely a force that drives us to like the same things our friends do, and others we interact with do. It’s part of human nature to fit in. I respect that you highlighted that :)
