Review: BMW M135i

Very recently, I got a car. What is it? A BMW M135i pre-LCI 5-door. Today, I wanted to give you a written review of my Bimmer. I’m trying to make this article as short as I can so, here we go.

The RWD Hatchback

On The Road

This is the only hatchback that has an FR layout. Most hatchbacks have an FF layout. It makes things rather difficult, shall we say. Why? Hatchbacks have been used by young and/or non expert drivers to learn driving fast and to learn how to drive fast, FWD is better because it’s less difficult than RWD. The car likes to kick its tail out when you are being a moron on the throttle. If you’re not, the grip is just unreal. The steering is very direct, very nice, and very progressive. The

However, it makes it funner than FWD. Yeah, yeah, you can call me a RWD fanboy, go ahead. No. Don’t get me wrong, FWD has its advantage which is….(read the third sentence of paragraph 1) but, when you want to do some sliding, well, it’s going to be too damn difficult. If doing some Tevzadze stuff is your thing, and you want a stylish hatchback, this is the car. The car is surprisingly really balanced which makes it a lot easier than most RWD cars. Is it top heavy? No. How’’s the body roll? Pretty nice and stiff yet comfortable around the twisty German country roads. And if you want to go to the autobahn and do some high speed sh!t, YOU CAN! COMFORTABLY!

Under The Hood

You’ll find an N55, a turbocharged straight-6 that produces 320 bhp and 332 lb-ft of torque. Pretty impressive for a car that costs £30k. 0-100 kph is completed in 5.1 seconds (my test) which is damn impressive. Top speed is 250 kph

Daily

My M135i is the 5-door version so I can carry a lot of stuff. No. It simply won’t. Now, that’s another drawback of putting a RWD in a hatchback. It can barely fit me on the rear seats. And for the trunk? Even worse. So, how green is it? It produces 175 grams of CO2 per Km. And it gets 37.7 MPG with the 8-speed automatic. The 6-speed manual will get 35.3 miles to the gallon.

Conclusion

The funnest little hatchback on the market with the worst rear space.

Great car! I learnt to drive in a BMW 135i E82 with some cool modifications. My driving instructor was a huge petrolhead :)

And the BMW M135i beeing even more powerful must be amazing!
Have fun and be save :)

Thanks. I learned driving with my dad’s Nova and it handles like a horse on ice. What car do you drive?

Haha! RWD/AWD hatch are actually less practical. They also suffers from lack of boot space. That’s why FWD hatch actually makes sense.
