300cc unless your a big guy, I weigh 150lbs and I was thinking of a Ninja 250r as a first bike. Think about it you can always trade in your bike for a 600cc if you get bored but its better to learn how a bike handles before you get on a 600cc.

Start slow and work up. I seriously can’t stress that strongly enough. When it comes to biking you are not superman. You are flesh and bone and if you don’t watch it you will be seriously hurt, dead or worse. I know I’m sounding harsh but I’ve been there done that and smashed myself up all over the pavement. Just don’t ever overestimate your ability. That means starting slow and progressing as you improve.

I can recommend the cb500 models by honda. Enough power to keep you happy for a few years

You sir are right on the money and cbr300r is also a really solid bike if the 500 is too much. If budgets are tight i heard the ninja 500 and 600r are pretty good sporty beginer friendly..ish bikes (not scary fast.)

I started with a 600cc superbike. As long as you have throttle control there is no issue in starting with a more powerful bike.

600cc. You’ll get bored of a 300cc after a month. But how you feel on a bike matters more than size. I’m a 5’5, 130lbs girl and my gsxr 600 was a perfect first bike for me. Test some bikes out and see what works!

If you have never ridden before (not even dirt bikes) and you are not used to clutch, get a used 300 just for a year or even 3 months to get yourself used to it. I won’t recommend 600, specially a supersport, just because it has too much power for a starter and it’s very jerky. Get something with ABS, as it is one of the best things you can get as a first rider.

I started learning on a 600 supersport. It was terrifying for the first few runs and then i moved down to a 250. The 250 is much safer for a beginner you have to do something really stupid to wreck. Oh and i still can whip people on the track with it. It also teaches you a lot more about proper motorcycling. Now i have a litre bike after a few years of riding and it was totally worth the wait. Also when you switch up to more powerful bikes and go up the classes you get the amazing tingling feeling of new power each time.
MORAL: get a smaller bike and start moving up the ranks you won’t regret it once you can actually use the machine to some extent of it’s potential and blowing by a litre bike on a 250 their face is PRICELESS XD
